Their triangular shape blends perfectly with the surrounding vegetation.\nAnd all offer a unique view of the Ch\u00e2teau de la Mothe Chandeliers<\/a>.\nWelcome to the ecolodges!\nInaugurated last April, these 4 apartments welcome you for a timeless stay in the midst of nature. <\/p>\n\n

When you arrive, a visit to the ch\u00e2teau is a must, as the building is so breathtaking.\nIncredible facades nibbled here and there by a marvel of vegetation, superbly sculpted medieval towers, a succession of corbels, a fresco of arcades winding along the water’s edge… Built in the 13th century, Ch\u00e2teau de la Mothe-Chandeniers has undergone various periods of renovation, including one in the early 19th century, which gave it its distinctive neo-Gothic style.\nCombining elements of medieval architecture (machicolations, arch\u00e8res) and Renaissance architecture (arabesques, sculptures), this ch\u00e2teau is an “architectural folly”, as the guides like to say.\nAnd all you have to do is walk around the lake to realize that, while Ch\u00e2teau de la Mothe Chandeliers is a one-piece edifice, it has many faces.\nAll singular. <\/p>\n\n

Other world<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Once inside the building, you won’t be disappointed.\nBecause that’s what it’s all about.\nWe’re transported to another time, another world.\nLining the stones, seeping into the walls, reaching for the sky, vegetation has gracefully conquered this majestic ruin.\nHere, nature rubs shoulders with an immense vestibule, cherubs and a splendid spiral staircase.\nIt’s as if time stood still decades ago. <\/p>\n\n

And this was indeed the case, as a violent fire ravaged a huge part of the ch\u00e2teau in 1932.\nLeft abandoned for 85 years, nature reclaimed its rightful place within its walls.\nIt wasn’t until 2017 that the Dartagnans strat-up and the Adopte un ch\u00e2teau association launched a worldwide fundraising campaign to buy back and restore the building. <\/p>\n\n

Today, the ch\u00e2teau “belongs” to 27910 “co-chatelains” in 115 countries, who have raised over 2 million euros. <\/p>\n\n

Once the tour is over, why not take a seat in the orangery, a magnificent vessel of cast iron and glass, where you can sip a Spritz or a glass of white wine?\nThe view of the castle from here is simply breathtaking.\nAnd since you’re spending the night, wait until sunset to see the illuminations projected onto the fa\u00e7ade.\nThe spectacle is simply incredible. <\/p>\n\n

It’s time to return to your ecolodge, where your cosy nest awaits you on the second floor.\nThis is your chance to admire the illuminations one last time from this promontory, or to read a book and fall into the arms of Morpheus.\nAt night, there’s not a sound to be heard, apart from the birds and animals that inhabit the forest.\nThe next day, nothing beats the sight of the sun rising to caress the castle’s fa\u00e7ade. <\/p>\n\n
