Florist based in Quinçay near Poitiers, L'Atelier de Camille offers local, made-to-measure, cheerful creations for your wedding.
You only have to look at wedding photos or videos to realize this.
Flowers are the detail that will make all the difference on the big day. Color, shape, volume, varieties chosen... Not only will they set the tone and general atmosphere of your big day, they will also say a lot about your personality and the emotions you wish to convey. So don't leave this crucial part to just anyone.
Just like a dress salesman, an estate owner or a photographer (or videographer), a florist must take the time to meet you, to get to know you and to probe deep inside you to give you the best advice. In short, it has to work! As an aspiring wedding photographer, I remember being struck by the enchanting smile of my bride Karima, returning from her appointment with Atelier de Camille. For twenty minutes, she had literally thrown flowers at him. And it's true that on the big day, the florist in question had brilliantly risen to the challenge of magnifying this tall, beautiful, sparkling, inspiring and loving woman in her fifties.
Floral laboratory
So why not go and meet the famous Camille who works so many miracles? Head for Quinçay, where L'Atelier de Camille is signposted at the end of a long, beautiful country road. But don't expect a traditional flower store with a sign and bouquets. L'Atelier de Camille is more like a laboratory, with a little decor and a cosy café corner, on the second floor of a prefabricated building whose horizon is fields as far as the eye can see.
The welcome is warm and the florist reassuringly gentle. During my visit (a good hour), a dozen or so customers (mostly women, in fact) were warmly welcomed and left with smiles on their faces. "I love getting to know people. There are lots of beautiful people, beautiful stories behind the faces. When you come to buy flowers, you're also looking for emotion and pleasure," explains Camille, who set up her own business in 2021 after 15 years in the business.
A responsible approach
Wreaths, various arrangements, bouquets... Most of the flowers (we were in winter) are dried. I don't want to bring my flowers from the other side of the planet," says Camille. I do a lot of dried flowers because there's a real demand for them and it's a responsible trend. The closer we get to spring and summer, the more I stock seasonal flowers. They come straight from a grower in Angers.
Spring brings flowers and weddings, which account for 70% of Camille's sales. "I'm passionate about this world, and I always make it a point of honor to bend over backwards to meet the wishes of the bride and groom. It's a unique day for them, and we can't afford to be approximate", explains the artisan-flowerist.
On the day of the wedding (or the day before), Camille comes in person to decorate an arch, a table or a room. She'll make a venue shine with her floral creations , just as she did on Karima and Jean's big day at the Château de la Ribaudière in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou.
A wedding florist on the move
While Camille travels the roads of Quinçay, Poitiers and surrounding areas in her black van, she also runs "floral aperitif workshops". How does it work? Twice a month, the florist takes you on a theme-based exploration of the plant world. Ideas, tips and tricks of the trade are all on offer, as is a little drink at the end of each session. Active and dynamic (like her logo), Camille is also active and dynamic on social networks. On Instagram in particular, she shares her news (arrivals, competitions, appointments, workshops...) and her good mood with her customers.
